Hello Day Camp Scouts!
We are sending you this e-mail to help you and your parents prepare for camp.
Things to WEAR to camp:
- 2007 Day Camp T-Shirt
- Swimsuit
- Closed-Toe Shoes (socks should be worn with shoes unless they are Crocs
or similar shoes)
- Sunscreen
Things to BRING to camp:
- Swim shoes (Crocs are not swim shoes)
- Towel
- Sunscreen (to reapply at lunchtime)
- A nutritious, non-perishable lunch with drink
- Plastic cup on string or lanyard
Things NOT to bring to camp:
- Swim goggles
- Open toed shoes
- Aerosol sprays of any kind
- Knives of any kind
- Walkie-Talkies or Two-way Radios
- Pets / Animals
- Non-essential / Non-camp items such as:
- Electronic Devices (Gameboys, MP3 Players, Radios, etc)
- Toys and Trading Cards
- ANYTHING YOU CAN'T LOSE OR LIVE WITHOUT
Things get lost and broken at camp -- please don't bring anything really valuable
Note:
- Put your name on ALL items being brought to camp! (Don't forget to label
socks, swim shoes and your lunch)
- Please keep sugar to a minimum in lunches. Water or sports drink ONLY --
NO soft drinks at camp.
- Make sure you bring a nutritious lunch -- you will be active all day and
need a good lunch to have fun.
- Bring your lunch in a one gallon zip lock bag and your Den Leader will store
it in a cooler. Be sure to label the zip lock bag and the drink with your
name -- all the lunches for your Den will be stored in the same cooler.
- A small mesh bag to carry sun screen, beach towel and swim shoes while at
camp is very useful.
- Do not pack a change of cloths as swimsuits and t-shirts dry quickly.
- Do not remove your swim test wristband.
Parents To-do List:
- Label all items with a Sharpie pen or fabric paint/marker. Put your scouts
name on ALL items being brought to camp! (Don't forget to label socks, swim
shoes and your lunch)
- Put sunscreen on your scout in the morning and den leaders will reapply
as needed throughout the day.
- Parents drop off and pick up your scout promptly. Camp car line drop off
starts at 8:15 AM and camp car line pick up starts at 3:45 PM. If you are
not volunteering at camp that day, DO NOT drop you scout off before Car Line
opens.
- Car Pool if possible. Most of the Cub Scouts from the same pack attend the
same week.
- If you have not already done so…ALL camp attendees MUST turn in medical
forms at Headquarters by MONDAY MORNING!
- If you did not make the swim test on Saturday, May 26th or Wednesday, May
31st, you must bring your scout to Headquarters Monday morning and stay with
him until he is registered.
- Have a conversation with your child about behavior and attitude at camp.
Good behavior and a good attitude will result in more fun and camp. Unacceptable
behavior, by just one scout, can spoil the fun for ALL and can pose a safety
hazard.
Parents NOT TO-DO List:
- If your child is taking required medication please do not stop this medication
during the week of camp.
- Do not allow your child to miss one of the pre-camp opportunities to take
the mandatory swim test. If this happens, your child will have to take the
swim test during camp on Monday. This is not easy to do for your scout. They
will be separated from their den and will be asked to take the test while
missing out on the regular scheduled events. A scout must have a wrist band
to enter the water and must be swim tested to receive a wristband.
- Do not let your child leave home unprepared for camp. See above for Things
to Wear to Camp and Things to Bring to Camp.
- Do not send your scout to camp hungry. They are very active all day and
need to eat breakfast!
- Do not allow your scout to remove his swim test wrist band during the week.
